Clearing Course Enrollment Restrictions

Enrollment restrictions are managed exclusively by the department or program that offers the class. Many departments now use the Course Pre-Authorization System to consider requests to waive prerequisites and other enrollment restrictions.  Please try this first when requesting waivers for enrollment restrictions in a UCSD class. If you do not see the course you need listed in this system, please then contact the department that offers the course through the Virtual Advising Center (VAC) for assistance.

HDP Courses that have Prerequisites

For HDP Core courses (HDP 110, 111, 121, 122, 133) and elective courses (HDP 160, HDP 171), you should submit your request for enrollment through the Course Pre-Authorization System in order to be considered for prerequisite waiver and enrollment authorization.  Students who are work-in-progress to complete the HDP pre-major can also use this system to request preauthorization to enroll in HDP 181.  HDP will review your academic history and other supporting documentation to determine if you qualify for a prerequisite waiver. If you do not see the HDP course you need listed as an option in the Course Pre-Authorization System, please continue reading the next section.
