Field Research Testing Requirements

Policy On Meeting HDP 191 & Research Site Requirements:

  • IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO GET THE REQUIRED TESTING DONE BEFORE STARTING RESEARCH AT THE SITE.
  • Students placed at ANY research site that requires testing of any kind (Fingerprints, TB Testing, Drug Testing, Immunization Records, etc.) must turn in a copy of the test/records to the HDP Office as well as to their site mentor.

FINGERPRINTS, TB & DRUG TEST

Livescan Fingerprints
  • UCSD Campus Police Dept: Appointment ONLY (858) 534-4361.
  • EDA Livescan San Diego: 450 Fletcher Pkwy, Ste. 207, El Cajon, CA 92020 (619) 631-7535. Monday- Friday 10:00- 5:00 p.m. Walk-In or Appointment.
  • Cost: The cost is variable depending upon the level of service required by your site (Note: Not every site requires each level of service).

    There is a base fee of $20.00 + Department of Justice fee of $32.00 + Federal Bureau of Investigation fee of $24.00 + Child Abuse Central Index Check fee of $15.00 = potential total cost of
    $91.00.

TB TEST

  • Can be done at the Student Health Center on campus
  • The cost is $9.00
  • TB testing is done through the Nurse's Clinic
  • TB Testing can be done on the following days and times: Monday through Friday (except Thursday) from: 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
  • NOTE: The results are only available 48 to 72 hours after the TB test is administered. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.

IMMUNIZATIONS

  • You must provide a copy of your immunization records to your site mentor & to the HDP office.
  • The immunizations required by the Children's Hospital are teh following: Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumphs & Rubella) & Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • NOTE: If you are unable to locate your Immunization Records you may schedule a titer test with the Student Health Center to prove that you have received the necessary vaccinations.

    Prices are as follows:
    Hepatitis B: $4.75
    Measles: $12.54
    Mumphs: $12.37
    Rubella: $2.96
    Varicella: $9.50
    Total: $42.12

Background Check & Drug Screening

Students placed at Rady Children's Hospital

  • Proceed to www.ucsdbackgroundcheck.com
  • Cost of the package for both is $75.00.

Students placed elsewhere with a Drug Testing requirement

  • Go to the school's District Office (eg. for Torrey Pines High School go to San Dieguito District) and fill out a Drug Test Form.
  • There is NO cost to you, the District Office pays for the test.
  • The drug test will be done at a U.S. Healthworks Clinic, it will most likely be a urine test (remember to drink plenty of water).
  • Your results will be mailed to the District Office and they will contact you for your clearance.
