APA Style Resources

There are many resources out there -- just make sure that you are using the 5th edition!

  • The APA Website
    • You can order the style manual there (you can also buy it in most bookstores). If you want a used copy, they might be available on Amazon.com in the used book section
  • APA Format (5th Edition) from the University of Minnesota at Crookston
  • Electronic Reference Citations
    • The latest word on electronic reference citations from the apastyle.org website
  • A guide for writing research papers based on American Psychological Association (APA) Documentation
  • APA Publication Manual Crib Sheet
  • Psychology with Style: A Hypertext Writing Guide
    • This is an online guide to writing APA papers and research reports. It is based on the 4th edition, but it includes valuable advice for experimental reports (not just APA citation format) and it includes helpful images of a properly formatted APA paper. Remember that the 5th edition of the style manual specifies hanging indents in the reference list, and be sure to check a newer site for electronic citation formats.
  • University of Wisconsin-Madison Writing Center Writer's Handbook
    • Includes an image of a title page and pays special attention to formatting, including long quotations.
  • APA Style Guide
